Gwendolyn "Jane" Stafford West, 86, of Wurtland, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012, in the Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wurtland.
She was born June 27, 1926, in Wurtland, the daughter of the late Clifford T. and Nellie Franze Stafford.
She had a Bachelor and two Masters Degrees in English, science and math from Marshall University and was a retired school teacher of 38 years. She taught at Raceland High School, Wurtland High School and retired from Wurtland Jr. High. She was a member of the Wurtland Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Hardiman and Marie Stafford, and three brothers, Dewitt Stafford, Glenn Stafford and Philip Stafford.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, whom she married on national television on the "Bride and Groom Show," Ernest E. West, one daughter, Amy West Hogsett, and her husband, Randall M. Hogsett III, of Barboursville, W.Va.; one sister, Margaret Cochran of Wurtland, one brother, Dan Stafford of South Carolina, five grandchildren, Amber Graves, Kara Wilburn, Miranda Hogsett, Ally Roy, and Bethany Hogsett, and three great-grandchildren, Bailey Graves, Ella Wilburn and Josie Graves.
