  SMITHVILLE -- Funeral services for Howard Lee Stafford, 82, of Sparta, were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville. Burial was in Scott-Red Hill Cemetery in Jackson County, with full military honors. Mr. Stafford died Saturday night, June 23, 2012, in Highlands Medical Center in Sparta. Mr. Stafford was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of Pistole Baptist Church. He was retired from Dacco Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Myrtle Lou Scott Stafford, a son, Richard Stafford; a stepbrother, J.B. Pigg; a sister-in-law, Lana Scott; a brother-in-law, Frank Hutchins; and a nephew, David Scott. Pallbearers were Glenn Rodgers, Cliff Harler, Howard Stafford, Danny McCloud, Michael Scott and Matthew Grenko. Bro. Harlan Simmons officiated at the services.
