Jeanette Pearl (Jan) Dunavin, age 80, of Dexter, passed away Tuesday, May 18 at her residence.
She was born May 27, 1918, in Lakeland, Ohio, the daughter of Chester and Orressa (Hutchins) Watkins. She attended and graduated from Pinnconing High School and attended Cleary College. She joined the Eastern Stars at the age of 18 where she was a life member. She was very instrumental in the Methodist Church in Savannah, Ga., and an active member there. In 1983 she returned to Michigan and resided in Dexter, where she became a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, during which time she was involved in numerous committees and functions with her husband, William.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Marlene) Etchison, James (Mary) Etchison, George (Terri) Etchison, Barbara (Chester) Wilson, Jerry (Judy) Wheeler, Richard (Nellann) Grannis, Marjorie (Chuck) Wylie, Robert (Nancy) Garner and Samuel Smith Jr.; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one sister, Ethel Zeilinger.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Samuel Smith and William Dunavin, and one son, John Dunavin.
Services for Mrs. Dunavin will be held Friday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at the Dexter United Methodist Church, 7643 W. Huron River Drive, with the Rev. William Donahue officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dexter.
