STAFFORD (Krause), Dorothy - Age 77, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Brian's House Hospice in Davison. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 6100 Richfield Road with the Reverend Harold K. Polk officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Saginaw, Michigan. Family will receive friends at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc Wednesday 2 - 9 PM. Dorothy will lie in state at the church Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service.
Dorothy was born September 18, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan to Alfred and Lora Bourdeau. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1947. Dorothy had a passion for music her entire life. She sang in the choir and played the organ for several Presbyterian Churches around the state. Her special gift was as a piano teacher. She taught hundreds of students throughout her years in Flint, Milford and Tecumseh. Her students consistently won awards for music around the state.
She was past president of the Flint Music Teachers Association and a member of the Flint Community Players and the Michigan Harness Horseman's Association.
Dorothy married George Stafford on Friday the 13th of October in 1978. They shared 29 devoted years together. They were members of the Calvary Presbyterian Church. George and Dorothy owned and raced harness horses. In 1994, they had the 3 year old State Champion Trotter.
Everyone who met and knew Dorothy came to love a warm, caring, compassionate and Christian woman.Her easy laughter will be missed by all. Dorothy is survived by: her husband, George Stafford. She will be missed by: her 3 sons, Fred (Denise) Krause of Davison, Paul (Evelyn) Krause of Goodrich and Charles "Scott" (Amy) Krause of Frisco, Colorado; four step-children, Santokh (Hari) Khalsa of Espanola, New Mexico, Guy (Marilyn) Stafford of Turner, Perry (Linda) Stafford of Roscommon and Terry (David) Price of Ida; 17 grandchildren, Jim (Carolyn) Krause, Kris (Kathy) Krause, Melissa (Matt) Erhmantraut, Andy Krause, Cody Krause, Tristen Krause, Tommy Kleckner, Jennifer Kleckner, Faith (Mark) Seppala, Chris (Nicole) Quillan, Biff (Lynn) Stafford, Matthew Stafford, Keturah (Jon) Scribner, Andrew (Anneke) Stafford, Micah (Audrey) Stafford, Daniel Stafford and Paul Stafford. She also had 30 great-grand-children. She is also survived by her brother, Don (Ann) Bourdeau; and many nieces and nephews who all knew her as Aunt Dodo.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Lora Bourdeau; and sister, Marjorie Bourdeau. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Presbyterian Church Mission Fund. A special thanks from the family to the staff of McLaren Hospital, Hurley Specialty Care Hospital, Fostorian Nursing Home and the staff at Brian's House.
