William J. (Bill) Willy left this earth on January 21, 2013, his 89th birthday. His wife of 62 years Shirley and his son Bricker preceded Bill. Three sons, David, Paul and Thomas, survive him. Bill was born in Saginaw Michigan the first son of an accountant. Mathematics and Music were Bills gifts and he used both in a lifetime of service to others and his family. He used his musical skills to pay for a degree in mathematics from Michigan State where he graduated in 1946.
Bill also served his country's call in WWII as a First Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers.
He served his church as an Elder and as Treasure of the Chicago Presbytery. He served his profession as chairperson of the ethics committee of the Illinois Society of CPAs and President of the Society. Bill also served the Boys of Chicago as Treasurer of the Union League Club Boys Club. Bill was a member of the Saginaw Masonic Lodge #77, and the Green Valley, AZ Elks #2592. He set an example of love for his fellow man few have the capacity to follow.
Bills first career was as a Certified Public Accountant. After graduation, he moved from Lansing to Chicago where across 32 years he worked his way up to Partner in charge of the Insurance practice at Ernst and Young. Following an elevator accident that left him more suited to a career where he could remain seated, he moved to Green Valley, Arizona, where he spent 20 years as the pianist for the Green Valley Stage Band.
