Gordon G. Potwin
Gordon G. Potwin, 81, of Harris Road, Ellington, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Lindquist, Waterboro Hill Road, RD 1, Kennedy, at 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 19, 1973). He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Potwin was a charter member of Roger Potwin Post, No. 1419, American Legion of Ellington, named in honor of his son, Roger Potwin, who was killed in action July 20, 1944, in the European Theater.
He was also a member of World War I Vets. Post 1231 of Randolph.
Mr. Potwin was a retired construction worker having worked on highway construction, and for many years was employed by the Chautauqua County Highway Dept.
His wife, Pearl Potwin, preceded him in death March 11, 1970.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne Potwin, Ellington, and Calvin Potwin, East Aurora; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Brumm, Newark, N.Y., and Mrs. George Lindquist of Kennedy; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Marvin Abrams, pastor of Ellington Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Ellington.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
