Blanche Slaydon Stafford, age 93, of Stanleytown, died Friday, October 25, 2013, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born in Martinsville November 24, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Edward Lee Slaydon and Cynthia Minter Slaydon. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 67 years, Charles McKinley (C.M.) Stafford, her sister, Mildred S. Martin, and her brother, John Boyd Slaydon.
She and C.M. owned and operated Stafford's Jewelers in Bassett for 64 years, and she was a member of First Baptist Church of Martinsville.
Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn Stafford Prillaman, and her husband, William C. (Bill) Prillaman of Stanleytown, two grandchildren, Alan Prillaman and his wife Teresa of Richmond, Scott Prillaman and his wife Angie of Stanleytown, and four great-grandchildren, Ryan Prillaman, Cody Prillaman, Tyler Prillaman, and Brooke Prillaman.
The funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with the Rev. John Fulcher and Daniel Willson officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 P.M. prior to the service at Collins Funeral Home, and at other times at her home.
