Rustburg: William Ray (Bill) Stafford, 55, of Bear Creek Rd., died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Janet Miller Stafford. Born in Pearisburg, August 18, 1951, he was a son of the late Wallace Edward and Geneva Stafford. Bill was employed for 35 years by the Virginia State Police as a Senior Dispatcher. He was an ATV instructor, a member of the Giles County Sheriff's Office Auxiliary, the Civil Air Patrol and during Vietnam he served his country as a member of the U. S. Navy. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Michael and Sharon Stafford of Gretna; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Debbie Stafford of Roanoke and Jerry and Virginia Stafford of Garden, NC; four grandchildren, Blake Page, Kevin Wittmann, Adam Wittmann, and Kimberlee Wittmann; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends who loved him. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, December 8, 2006 in New Chapel Baptist Church, Rustburg by Evangelist Stan Ogden and Chaplain Paul Kvasnicka with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox Thursday from 7-8:30 pm.
