STAFFORD, Va. -- Frances Elizabeth Stafford, 80, passed away on Sunday at Greenfield Assisted Living. She was the loving wife of David E. Stafford for 59 years.
Frances was a devout Catholic, totally immersed in her faith and in the ministries of each and every parish she belonged to. She was the first chairperson of the Bereavement Committee at St. William of York.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Stafford; and a brother, Jhan Knieb; and grandson, David Burgess Jr.
Along with her husband David, Frances is survived by her children, William Wright Stafford of Mooresville, N.C., Timothy Stafford of Chesapeake Beach, Md., Martha Burgess of Fredericksburg, Va., Jhan Stafford of LaPorte, Ind., Christi Hylton of Roanoke, Va., Vincent Stafford of Stafford, Va., Martin Stafford of Stafford, Va., Dale Stafford of Beckley, W.Va., Georgia Milam of Round Hill, Va.; one brother, Lamont Aiken of Chapel Hill, N.C.; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. William of York Catholic Church with the Rev. David P. Meng officiating. Burial will follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
