STAFFORD, Ralph James, 88, of Staffordsville and Blacksburg, died Saturday, September 14, 2002 at the Salem VA Medical Center. He was born November 6, 1913 at Staffordsville, Va., the son of the late Edgar S. and Lonnie Stafford and stepmother, Gladys Stafford. He was a member of Sheffey Memorial United Methodist Church, a member of Wabash Lodge #189, I.O.O.F. and was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by two sisters, Reba Enoch, Roanoke, Ruth Spurr, San Diego, California; nieces nephews and spouses, Phyllis and Palmer Price, Blacksburg, David and Betty Strickland, Roanoke, Curtis and Betsy Alls, Raleigh, N.C., Doyle and Louise Barton, Radford, Donald and Virginia Barton, Vancouver, Oregon, David and Peggy Bradley, Peterstown, W. Va., W. P., Jr. and Bobbi Carr, Roanoke, Gary and Norms Spurr of Maryland, Mary and Mike Warfield, San Diego, California. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sheffey Memorial United Methodist Church. Military graveside rites by the Giles American Legion and V. F. W. Posts in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. Visiting will be at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the American Cancer Society.
