Willis Edward "Bump" Stafford was born on Jan. 23, 1938 in Horatio, Ark. to James Samuel and Bertha M. (Chandler) Stafford.
The family moved from Arkansas when he was about 15 years of age to Prineville, where he got his first job at the Ochoco Inn as a bellhop. They later moved to Dayville, Ore., where he met Jody Garrison and later married in 1956, and had their four sons. He worked for Driskill Fish Farm in Dayville delivering fish. Moving back to Prineville in the late 60s, Bump worked throughout Oregon, he owned and operated Stafford Logging, and as a cattle rancher, and farmer.
Bump married Candace McPhetridge in 1977, and they were married for 14 years. He also owned and operated Stafford chip yard, and Stafford Ranches. Bump was a hardworking man and took pride in his work and his family.
Bump enjoyed golfing and snowmobiling; he was also an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Bump loved to go and watch the rodeo and watch his sons and grandchildren rope. Bump mostly enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He was a member at the Prineville Elk's Lodge. He will be missed greatly by many, many family and friends.
