Robert Edward Stafford, affectionately called, "Bob", died in Charlotte, NC on March, 2, 2015, after struggling for many years with Parkinson's disease.
He was born in Lexington, NC on April 16, 1937 to the late Samuel Therlo and Lucylle Workman Stafford.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean Desmond Stafford; his children, Philip Craig, William Desmond and Edward Andrew; his grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth and Robert Watson; a brother Charles Craig and a sister Sherri LuAnne.
Bob was a good student and a happier athlete. In high school, he was on the football team all four years, serving as co-captain his senior year. He was on the baseball team all four years and played for the American
Legion as well. He enjoyed playing basketball for three of his high school years.
After graduating from Lexington Senior High School, he attended Wake Forest University, graduating in 1959, with a BS Degree in Mathematics. He was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon Mathematics Fraternity and Sigma Phi Epsilon Social Fraternity. He was an avid fan of Wake Forest Sports his whole life.
Shortly after graduating from Wake Forest, he was employed by International Business Machines. He enjoyed a successful 31 years there, mostly selling main frame computers in Greensboro, NC and Endicott, NY and Charlotte, NC.
He coached Little League while his children were young. He loved good food, good cars, and good music-especially Jazz. He was responsible, reliable and devoted to his family. He lived his life with integrity and contributed to his community.
