William Franklin Stafford, 78, of Royal Avenue, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Gavin Pratt and Dr. Robert Floyd. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Stafford was born on Sept. 10, 1931, in Alexander County to Avery Jay Stafford and Lula Pope Stafford. He was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Paul Stafford and A.J. Stafford and sisters Ruth, Muriel, Beth and Linda.
Surviving are his wife, Colleen Fortner Stafford of the home; sons James Franklin Stafford and Brian Todd Stafford and wife Donna, all of Lexington; daughters Christine Stafford Kearns and husband Neil of High Point and Wanda Stafford Yates and husband David of Lexington; four grandchildren, Brian Stafford II of Lexington, James Stafford II and wife Lauren of Raleigh, Christopher Kearns of High Point and Heather Q. Seuberling and husband John of Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Stafford and Jackie Stafford, both of Raleigh; brothers Henry Stafford and wife Bobbi Jo and John Stafford and wife Jane, all of Taylorsville; and sisters, Nell Fulbright and husband Gene of Hickory and Gertrude Milsap of Taylorsville.
