Mr. John Raven Stafford, 74, of Taylorsville passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Valley Nursing Center.
Mr. Stafford was born March 28, 1939 in Alexander County to the late Avery Javan Stafford, Sr. and Luda Estelle Elizabeth Pope Stafford. He was a member of Millersville Baptist Church. He served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era. He was a long time member of the DAV Chapter 84 of Taylorsville. He had worked at Boggs Motor Company for many years.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by: three brothers, Paul Stafford, A.J. Stafford, Frank Stafford; four sisters, Muriel Stafford, Ruth Kerley, Elizabeth Carver, Linda McAlpin; step-daughter, Judy Wilderdyke.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 29 years, Ola Jane Stafford of the home; a daughter, Mary Beth Stafford Law of Hickory; a step-daughter, Ruby Sherrick of Taylorsville; three step-sons, Walt Huffman and Johnny Huffman both of Hickory, Tony Huffman of Ellenboro; two sisters, Gertrude Millsaps of Taylorsville, Nellie Fulbright of Hickory; a brother, Henry Stafford of Taylorsville; a grandson, Shawn Stafford; two great-grandchildren, Channing Stafford and Makayla McKinney; and a number of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
