  Granite Falls, N.C. - Mr. Joseph Daniel Stafford, 78, of Peach Tree Lane of Granite Falls, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Frye Regional Medical Center.  He was born June 3, 1930, in Caldwell County to the late Clarence L. Stafford and Maude White Stafford.  Mr. Stafford was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shiley C. Stafford, and a brother and two sisters.  He is survived by his son, Wayne Livingston and wife, Diane, of Stony Point; six daughters, Doris Benfield and husband, Mike, of Hiddenite, Jessie Coffey and husband, Ray, of Granite Falls, Garnett Paige of Gamewell, JoAnn Coffey and husband, David, Mary DeMico and fiance, Keith Patterson and Peggy Stafford and fiance, Ivan, all of Taylorsville; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a very special lady, Margaret Melton.  The funeral service for Mr. Stafford will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at Mackie-High Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Marion Poythress officiating.
