  Taylorsville, N.C. - Lily Mae Stafford Bowman, 81, of Friendship Church Road, Taylorsville, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley.  She was born in Alexander County on Oct. 30, 1927, a daughter of the late Jacob Luther and Mary Ethel Hammer Stafford.  She was a retired furniture worker and most recently worked as a greeter at the Taylorsville Wal-Mart. She was a lifelong member of Friendship Lutheran Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Lee Bowman, and brothers, James, Kermit, Marvin and Wayne Stafford.  Survivors include her son, Jerry Bowman and wife, Vicki, of Taylorsville; sisters, Mary Loy Bowman and husband, J.D., of Hickory and Lucy Hines and husband, Elbert, of Taylorsville; and brother, Ray Stafford and wife, Juanita, of Taylorsville. She also is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
