  Gary R. Stafford, 70, of Connelly Springs passed away Saturday August 5, 2017 following a period of declining health.  Gary was born February 27, 1947 in Alexander County to the late Tommie Ernest Stafford and Lillian Gantt Stafford.  He was a member of Crosslink Church in Rutherford College.  He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother David Stafford; and sister, Sue Ella Stafford Aiken.  Survivors include his wife of forty nine years, Marcella; son, Greg Stafford and wife Jody; step-sons, Jerry Spann and wife Kim, Darrell Spann and Diane; grandchildren, Luke Stafford, Jeremy Spann, Dana Stillwell, and Lisa Hicks. Also surviving are six great grandchildren and two nephews.
