Joseph Jason Stafford of Peachland, N.C., Anson County, N.C. White Store Township, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at his home. Funeral service 3 P.M. Thursday in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Pittman officiating.
Born in Manatee County, Florida August 24, 1927, son of Joseph Jason Stafford and Corrine Morgan Stafford. Graduated from the University of Florida and was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. He was a retired Pharmacist having owned and operated two stores in Riverview, Florida. Following his retirement he and his wife moved back to make their home in Anson County in 1978 where his wife was from. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was also a gunsmith.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Betty Chewning Stafford; children Joseph Jason Stafford III of Apollo Beach, Florida, Becky Stafford and Malanie Mixon of Ruskin, Florida, Jenny Meana of Tampa, Florida; brother Morgan Stafford of Rye, New Hampshire; sister Mary Edna Ellis of Brandon, Florida; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
Note: Jason has a memorial marker here but his ashes are scattered in the Gulf of Mexico.
