  Black Mountain - Fred Wayne Barker, 57, of Black Mountain went to his Heavenly home Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the residence of his daughter.  A native of Henderson County, he was the husband of 36 years to the late Brenda Diane Barker who preceded him in death in 2004, and the son of Gussie Curtis Barker and the late Fred Watkins.  He was preceded in death by his sister; Linda Burnette.  A veteran of the US Navy he served on the USS Saratoga CVA-60.  He was a tool and die maker for Textron Mfg. and was the former owner/operator of Bren-Way Ceramics in Black Mountain.  He was an avid model builder and was a former competitive pistol shooter.  He was a loving husband, father, and uncle being very dedicated to his family.
