Son of Rebecca Zoucks and James Washington Stafford. His father was County Sheriff of Liberty County, Georgia, and was killed while on duty in 1893.
Rush Stafford was a Police Officer in Chatham County, Georgia. He died of a gunshot wound in Savannah.
Rush married Tallulah R. L. Matthews on May 24, 1888, in Chatham County, Georgia. She had moved from Matthews, North Carolina, to Savannah and is seen with nicknames "Lou" and "Lula" in census records and city directories.
They had one son, Frank Matthews Stafford, who was working for the railroad in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the time of his death in 1918. He is buried in Lula's home county in North Carolina near her parents.
Lula remained in Savannah for a few years working as a seamstress. She eventually relocated back to North Carolina, living with extended family in Greensboro, Guilford County, until her death at age 98.
