KERNERSVILLE - Etta Garris Stafford, 91, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. A native of Anson County, Etta was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Russell and Charles Garris. She was married to Clay Phipps Stafford for 66 years. She had retired from Harris Teeter after 25 years of service. She had been a member of Kernersville First Baptist Church for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. Survivors include her husband Clay Stafford of Kernersville; daughter Brenda Julian and Philip of Goldsboro; son Phil Stafford and Miriam of Kernersville; grandchildren Drew, Jennifer, Ashley, and Heather; sisters Pauline Davis and Margaret Tucker and Basil all of High Point, and Eunice Jordon and Pete of Wadesboro; brothers Charles Garris and Polly of Wadesboro, and Julian Garris and Delores of Charlotte. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service on Friday at the church.
