OBITUARY:
LITTERST, Kenneth Earl "Whitey" 87, of Springfield, died Saturday afternoon, October 29, 2011 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Jackson, Ohio on January 5, 1924, the son of the late Kenneth R. and Mary (Helfenbein) Litterst. In 1981, Whitey retired from Navistar International following 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge #619 F. & A.M. and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley (Stafford) Litterst; daughter and son-in-law, Kenna and Mike Williams of Mount Vernon, Ohio; two sisters, Eileen (Dick) Prestien of Lexington, North Carolina and Eleanor Franks of Ashland, Ohio; a brother, Carl (Ruth) Litterst of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Ben (Elliot) Williams of Tuxedo, North Carolina and Angela Williams of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Whitey's funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Revs. Mike Williams and Bill Warax officiating.
