  Obituary: CHARLOTTE - Myrtle Stafford "Brownie" Bowers, 81, of Charlotte, died July 20, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital. Born May 1, 1920, in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late James O. and Myrtle Zada Johnston Stafford. A member of East Baptist Church, where she was active in the church choir and the Elaine Moore Sunday school class, she worked with Woolco Department Store for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore R. "Ted" Bowers. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald T. and Theresa Bowers of Charlotte; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Don Rockett of Conover; two sisters, Obiedean Cox of Stanley and JoNell Guest of Texas; four grandchildren and two grandchildren-in-law, Rhonda and Pete Wojnowski, Liane Bowers, Michele Brown and Kent and Shelley Brown Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Wojnowski, Michael Wojnowski, Taylor Brown and Tori Brown.
