AITHER STAFFORD DARLINGTON -- Gaither W. Stafford, age 86, died Friday, July 11th at the McLeod Hospice House. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, July 14th at Grove Hill Cemetery, with Military Honors, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born May 7, 1928 in Wadesboro, NC he was the son of the late Kirby Chase Stafford and Effie Starnes Stafford. He graduated from Marion High School in Marion, NC in 1946 and Gaston College in Gastonia, NC in 1955. Mr. Stafford served his country in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he moved his family to Darlington in 1963, and went to work for Pyramid (NYTRONICS) for twenty years. He was then employed by Galey and Lord until his retirement. Mr. Stafford attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Darlington. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Petty of Darlington and Walhalla, SC, a son, Bill Stafford of Marion, SC, his granddaughter, Amanda Petty Nance and her husband Austin, three great-grandchildren, Harley, Dawson and Blayson, a brother, K.C. Stafford of Colorado, brother-in-law, William H. Flake of Boone, NC, and a sister-in-law, Zula M. Stafford of Charlotte, NC and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Earl Stafford. The family will greet friends and loved ones at the cemetery following the service
