BLUEFIELD — Mary "Louise" Stafford, 89, of Bluefield, W.Va., died peacefully Wednesday evening, May 14, 2008 with her loving brother, Heber, at her side.
Born December 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Albert Frazier Stafford and Virginia "Virge" Gott Stafford of Bluefield.
Ms. Stafford attended Wade Elementary School and was a January 1937 graduate of Beaver High School. She began working in 1938 at Bluefield Phone Company and ended her 42-year career with GTE in 1981. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Gleaners Sunday School Class and church circles.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Stafford was preceded in death by her brother, A.F. "Red" Stafford.
She is survived by her brother, Heber G. Stafford and a number of cousins: Laura J. Rush, John C. Rush, his wife Nancy and daughters Lori and Allison of Bluefield; Mary Frances Williams and her son Michael of Princeton, W.Va.; Sarah Gott Holroyd, her husband Fred and children Rick, Scott and Holley of Charleston, W.Va.; Mary Elizabeth Morgan of Bluefield, W.Va.; William and Jean Dillon of Waynesboro, Va.; Kitty Lyons of Roanoke, Va.; Joyce Light of Salem, Ore.; Maureen Gleason of Boering, Ore.; Zollie Wendt of Kansas City, Kan. and Eugene Davis and his wife Jo of Tampa, Fla.
