Harris Alfred Dellow, 88 , of McGraw, New York, passed away Saturday December 13, 2008, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. He was born June 30, 1920, in Lapeer, the son of the late Dever and Helene Oliver Dellow. He was a lifetime resident of the area. Alfred owned and operated a dairy farm in Spafford for many years prior to operating his own logging business. After many years of self employment, Alfred sold his business and took employment with Gutchess Lumber Company and worked as a timber buyer. He retired in the late 1980's. Alfred enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap and skeet shooting. He was a member of the many local gun clubs. He was also a charter member of the Spafford Fire Department. He is survived by his 2nd wife Lillian Stafford Craig Dellow of McGraw; son Marlan (Sonya) Dellow of Virgil; daughters, Gloria (John) Perry of Truxton, Jeanette (Don Jr.) Halsey-Bell of McGraw, Rita LeBrun of Fayetteville and Betty (Leon) McUmber Jr. of McGraw; brother, James "Jim" Dellow of Cortland; stepchildren, Gilbert (Rose) Craig Jr. of Spafford,
George (Pamela) Craig of Lapeer, Glen Craig of Tully, Gerald (Cynthia) Craig of Solon, Marilyn Inman of Virgil and Gene (Barbara) Craig of Cortlandville, many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Alfred was predeceased by his firs wife Rubie Morris Dellow in 1988. A funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, with the Rev. Cathy Lee officiating. Spring burial will be in the cold Brook Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 3:30 to 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
