Lawrence D. Stafford, 73, of New England, ND, died on Friday, April 4, 2008
 at the St. Lukes Home in Dickinson, ND after a five-year battle with cancer.
 Funeral Services for Lawrence will be on Tuesday, April 8th at 11:00 a.m. at
 Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, New England. Reverend Bruce Peterson will
 officiate with burial to follow in the Our Redeemer's Lutheran Cemetery.
 There will be a Prayer Service on Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the
 Krebsbach Funeral Home Chapel, Bowman.
 
 Lawrence Stafford was born on September 13, 1934 in Hume Township, Slope
 County, New England, North Dakota, the son of Elmer and Frieda Wegner
 Stafford. He attended grade school in rural Hume Township at Beyers school
 and high school in New England, ND. He attended Dickinson State College.
 Lawrence has farmed and ranched since he finished school, except for a time
 when he worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA.
 
 On September 7, 1963 Lawrence married Lois Klein at Our Redeemer's Lutheran
 Church in New England, ND. They lived in New England until March 1964 when
 they bought Lawrence's folks' farm on the S.E. quarter of Section 10,
 township 134, range 99 of Hume Township. They moved there and over the years
 remodled the old house. They sold the old house in 1980 and it was moved.
 They moved to Scranton, ND in March of 1980 and lived in an apartment until
 their new home was built. Moving back to the farm where they raised their
 family. Their five children attended grade and high school in Scranton, ND.
 
 Lawrence was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, and served on the
 Hume Township Board for a number of years. Lawrence especially enjoyed his
 cattle. In the earlier years he enjoyed camping with his family. He was a
 family man who dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren. They all
 played an important role in his life. Lawrence was preceded in death by is
 parents, Elmer and Frieda, grandson, Daniel Stafford.
 
 He is survived by his wife, Lois of New England, ND; daughter and
 son-in-law, Kimberly and John Dixon of Mandan, ND; sons and
 daughters-in-law, Shannon and Darcy Stafford of Dickinson, ND, Myles and
 Debra Stafford of Bismarck, ND, James and Mia Stafford of Bowman, ND, and
 Jonathan and Marisol Stafford of Del Rio, TX; brother, Elmer "Bud" Stafford
 of Spearfish, SD; sisters, Marjorie Evans of Dickinson, ND, Marion Hartman
 of Lubbock, TX, June Hodge of Syracuse, NY, Glorianne Ten Braak, Rapid City,
 SD, grandchildren, Kaitlin Dixon, Hayden, Lauren, Matthew, Luisa, Ellie,
 Madeline and Claire Stafford.
 
 Honorary Pallbears, Lawrences' grandchildren. Special Music, Julie Opdahl
 and Jim Erickson.
 
 Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Billy Graham
 Evangelical Association.
