  The son of Arthur Chandler Bemis (1856-1947) and Lois Luvan Browning (1859-1893), Herbert Bemis moved to Arizona about 1910 and first settled in Cochise County where he worked for the Cananea Consolidated Copper Company. He later moved to the Phoenix area about 1925. He was an accountant.
