PLATTSBURGH - Cora Stratton Stafford, 72, of 6 Stafford Drive, died late Tuesday afternoon at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born Aug. 4, 1902 in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Edward D. and Catherine (Goodspeed) Stratton.
She was a registered nurse on the private duty for many years until her recent illness. She was a member of the Physicians Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, the New York State Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, the Business and Professional Women's Christian Association and the Plattsburgh Garden Club. Mrs. Stafford was also a member of the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Group.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Katherine) Miller of 12 Stafford Dr., Mrs. Frank (Jane Charlotte) Hamilton of New Paltz and Mrs. Warren (Ruth) Hodges of Northfield, Conn.; one sister, Mrs. C. Ross (Frances) Levine of Plattsburgh, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family requests donations in her name be made to the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church flower fund.
She was married to Elmer A. Stafford in 1920 who pre-deceased her in 1967.
