PLATTSBURGH - Ralph Ward "Prof" Miller, 77, of 161 Stafford Drive, died Monday, Sept. 25, 1995,at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Ellisburg, July 30, 1918, the son of James D. and Musette (Brigham) Miller.
He married Katherine Anna Stafford, Feb. 22, 1946, in Watertown. Mr. Miller was a 1951 graduate of Cornell University. He was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran, having served in North Africa and Europe from 1942 to 1945. He retired from the Beekmantown Central School in 1980, where he taught driver education for 17 years. He also taught at Saranac and Chazy Central Schools.
Mr. Miller was an original member of the Clinton County Traffic Safety Committee, serving from 1972 until his death. He was a member of Northern Light Lodge 505 Free and Accepted Masons, serving as chaplain for more than 25 years. He was a member of Media Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. He was also Past Master of Chazy Lodge 1095 F.&A.M. In 1994 he received a dedicated service award for his efforts as a Mason.
Mr. Miller was a member of the United Methodist Church of Plattsburgh. He served many years on the administrative board and board of trustees including terms as chairman of both. He was a member of United Methodist Men, Mr. Miller was past Cubmaster of Pack 39 and a longtime supporter of Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew S. and Doris C. Miller of Clifton Park; two brothers, Harold Miller of Sun City, Ariz., and Donald Miller and his wife, Violet, of Hubbardsville; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Musette) Neuroth of Evans Mills.
A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church Saturday at 1:30 p.m. A Masonic Memorial Service will be part of the service and Masons are invited to attend. There will be a reception following the service where people may greet the family.
Donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, United Methodist Church or CVPH Foundation Interfaith Chapel Fund.
