  Plattsburgh Press Republican December 11, 1950 John R McDowell, 93,of 27 Draper Avenue, died at his residence Saturday after a long illness. Mr. McDowell was born in Mooers and moved to Plattsburgh when he was 30 years of age. He was a builder and contractor. Mr. McDowell was past master and the oldest member of Clinton County Lodge F. & A.M., member of the commandery, charter and shrine. He was a member of Pomona and State Granges, and past master of the Beekmantown Grange. Beside his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Miss Mae McDowell, East Orange, N.J., and Miss Margaret McDowll, Plattsburgh; one son, John S., Amsterdam and one granchild. Masonic rites were held from the Blixt Funeral Home yesterday with Ben Lewis reciting the ritual. Funeral residence will be held today at two p.m. from the residence. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
