Maurice J. Renshaw, Sr., 86, of Upper Pittsgrove, passed away on July 23, 2016.
Born in Blenheim, he was the son of the late James Renshaw, Sr. and Mae (nee Tuttle) Renshaw. Throughout Maurice's earlier years, he served his country in the U.S. Army and held various jobs, either working on his own or with different subcontractors. He spent the bulk of his career working in the Local 30 Roofers Union and a few years in the Sheet Metal Union.
After retiring, he worked with his son at Wink's Pool Service. All the while, on the side, he was an excellent woodworker and craftsman and he manufactured and sold various "whirligigs" out of his home on Route 40 (Bussy's Woodshop), now run by his son. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, but mostly loved going to the Pegasus Diner after his golf outings. Maurice was not an ordinary person and he didn't mince words, but he did love to see and talk to everyone as well as make them laugh. As a member of the Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle, he spent many a Sunday night driving his wife, Mary and her "Harmonares" to various Christian venues to perform and became very active with the church over the past several years.
Maurice is survived by his son, Maurice "Wink" J. Renshaw, Jr. (Donna); his sister, Clara Elliott (Robert); his brother, Louis Renshaw (Dorothy); brother-in-law, John Israel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary J. Renshaw; his son, Danny V. Renshaw; his sisters, Mae Swan (David), Almira Israel and Sarah Davis (Jim); his brothers, James "Ozzie" Renshaw, Jr. and Jimmy Renshaw; and his Uncle Harry and Aunt Ruth Renshaw.
Services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016, all at the Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle, 188 Route 40, Upper Pittsgrove, NJ. There will be a visitation from 10 - 11 AM followed by the service at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove.
