SHELBURNE -- Grace M. (Stacy) Stafford, 94, of 254 Peckville Road, formerly of Charlemont, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at the Buckley HealthCare Center in Greenfield.
She was born Nov. 14, 1912 in Guilford, VT, the daughter of Alva and Mary Elizabeth (Alexander) Stacy. She was a 1930 graduate of Brattleboro (VT) High School.
Prior to retirement in 1973, she was assistant cafeteria manager at Hawlemont Elementary School in Charlemont, where she was employed for 19 years.
She was a member of the former Mt. Peak Rebekah Lodge in Charlemont.
Until recently, Mrs. Stafford knitted booties and mittens for Franklin Medical Center Gift Shop in Greenfield for over 30 years.
She was married to William Payson Stafford in 1935. He predeceased her on Jan. 11, 1990.
Survivors include her son, William H. Stafford and his wife Brenda of Shelburne; her daughter, Nancy M. Peck and her husband Harvey, also of Shelburne; one brother, Alva C. Stacy of Ocala, FL; two sisters, Mary L. Bassett of Shelburne Falls and Mae L. Lovering of Readsboro, VT: seven grandchildren, Barbara M. Giguere, Janet G. Beaudry, Todd A. Sumner, Eric E. Sumner, Ree A. Martin, Laurie S. Bishop and Tracy L. Dunigan, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls with the Rev. Phyllis Evelyn, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Shelburne, officiating. Burial will be in Leavitt Cemetery, Charlemont.
There are no calling hours.
It is suggested memorial donations be made to either Hospice of Franklin County, 329 Conway St., or to Buckley HealthCare Center Activities Fund, 95 Laurel St., both in Greenfield, MA 01301.
