Sister Sheila Stafford, 63, of Ashland, Kentucky, wife of Rev. Stephen Stafford, went home to her Lord, died Wednesday, August 21, at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Sheila was born March 19, 1956 in Boyd County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Jeff Raymond and Betty Blevins Clevenger.
She was a member of the Hoods Creek Freewill Baptist Church and was in the ministry 35 years with her husband and family, The Stafford Family, spreading the gospel in song.
Sheila was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a daughter, LeeAnna Stafford Wright; a granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Barker; a brother, Jeff Clevenger; and a sister, Elizabeth Rice.
Surviving, in addition to her loving husband, include 2 daughters, April (Kevin) Cade, of Boyd County, Kentucky; Stephanie (Shaun) Greene, of Ashland, Kentucky; a very special niece, Shianne Justice of Boyd County, Kentucky; 3 brothers, Steven Clevenger of Ashland, Kentucky, John Clevenger of Ashland, Kentucky, and Paul Clevenger of Crown City, Ohio; 3 sisters, Kathy Clevenger of Westwood, Kentucky, Sandy Adams of Boyd County, Kentucky, and Connie Preston of South Point, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Savannah Wright, Amber Barker, Sarah Wright, Brianna Cade, Christian Wright, Alexis Greene, Luke Greene; and a great grandson, Jacob Matthew Hicks.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24, at 1 p.m. by Brother Chuck McCormick and Brother Sheldon Wheeler, with special music by Sister Kathy Wheeler, at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in the Coalton Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time.
