ROY MAYSE
1924 - 2011
Roy Ellis Mayse age 86 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Tuesday morning, March 22,2011, in the UK Medical Center in Lexington,Kentucky.
Mr. Mayse was born January 10, 1924, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Ollie and Martha Eldridge Mayse.
He was retired with the Kentucky State Highway Department, a born again Christian, and a World War II Navy Veteran where he served four years. He enjoyed watching UK ball games, and spending time with his loving family.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Ezra Eldridge, two sisters, Barbara Wilder and Juanita Rice.
He is survived by his precious wife of sixty three years, Mollie Marie Stafford Mayse of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. His children; Ronnie and Debi Mayse of West Liberty, Kentucky, Roger and Teresa Mayse, Kathy and Jimmy Adkins, also Vickie and David Fox all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Four sisters; Ivory Howard of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Jorene Brewer of Farmers, Kentucky, Leona Mayse of Garrison, Kentucky, and Joyce McGuire of Farmers, Kentucky. Grandchildren; Tim Adkins, Jody Mayse, Laura Mayse, Misty Higgins, Bryan Mayse, Lacy Frisby, and Brandy Mayse. Great Grandchildren; Jordan Bradley, Shelly Adkins, McKenzie Mayse,Katy Lewis, Marissa Mayse, Maggie Lewis, David Trace Stephens, Hunter Mayse, Terrance Mayse, Emilee Dennis, and Benjamin Frisby along with a host of extended family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m Thursday, March 24, 2011, in the chapel of the Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy T. Rice, Bro. George Stafford, and Bro. Jason Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayse Family Cemetery on Ruin.
Friends may call after 6:00 p.m Wednesday, March 23, 2011, and after 9:00 a.m Thursday until the service hour at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers are: Tim Adkins, Jody Mayse, Bryan Mayse, Jordan Bradley, Jamie Frisby, Tony Higgins, Donnie Rigsby, and Dwight Dennis.
Serving as Honorary pallbearers are his many family and friends.
