Lois Evelyn Wagoner Simmons, age 74, of Clearfield Street, Morehead, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born March 2, 1938, in Elliott County, she was the daughter of the late Dee and Nannie Frances Stevens Wagoner.
She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with all her family, watching church programs on television, and listening to the radio. She was a lifelong member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Charity Ison, and three brothers, Junior Elmo, William, and Ralph Eugene Wagoner.
Lois is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ernest E. Simmons, one son, Delmane Simmons and his wife Shirley of Morehead, one brother, Troy Lee Wagoner of Elliott County, one sister, Goldie Howard of Burton, MI., five grandchildren, Joseph Shannon Brewer, Jessica Ann Simmons, Mary Jo Noone, Joshua Delmaine Simmons, Angel Dawn Simpson, five great-grandsons, and five great- granddaughters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Rev. David Starcher and Rev. Billy Wagoner officiating. Burial will be in the Wagoner Cemetery in Elliott County.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
Pallbearers: Joseph Brewer, Joshua Simmons, Patrick Simpson, Joseph Noone, Nick Johnson, and Dennis Midkiff. Honorary Pallbearers: Richard Lee and James Wesley Simmons.
