  Robert C. Allen was the third of eight children born to Joseph and Jane Stafford Allen. He was born in either Franklin or Washington Townshhip (near Milan), Ripley County, Indiana. Robert was never married. He can be tracked through the census as a long-time resident of Washington Township, Ripley County and Sparta Township, Dearborn County, Indiana. He can be found in the census as follows: 1860: Franklin Twp., Ripley, Indiana, with parents. 1870: Washington Twp., Ripley, Indiana, with mother and siblings. 1880: Washington Twp., DRipley, Indiana, with mother and siblings. 1900: Sparta Twp., Dearborn, Indiana, with mother 1910: Sparts Twp., Dearborn, Indiana, with mother 1920: Manchester Twp., Dearborn, Indiana, with list of unrelated people, possibly at the County Farm. His mother died in 1912 and he may have been put here after her death. If he died as a resident of the farm, he would have likely been buried in one of the County Farm Cemeteries, which kept very incomplete records.
