Vernon Campbell, 90, of Kokomo, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, at McGivney Health Care Center in Carmel. He was born in Cleveland, Texas but lived most of his adult life in Kokomo.
He served in the Army during WWII. He was an infantryman in the Pacific theater. He retired from Kokomo Opalescent Glass Company and had also been employed at Hoosier Iron and in the heating and plumbing business.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Campbell. He was the father of two sons, David H. (Kathy) Campbell, and Dale A. (Phyllis) Campbell, all of Florida; grandfather of four, David (Angie) Campbell of Zionsville, Jim Campbell of Florida, Stacy (Greg) Barkley of Florida, and Jason Campbell of Kokomo; and great-grandfather of five, Ethen, Zachary, and Jillian Campbell, Dylan Barkley, and Lucas Campbell. He is also survived by a brother, Earl Campbell of Kokomo and a sister, Sybil Roberts of Texas.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Rev. Rebecca Sundquist officiating. Entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
