More proof is needed that Ellis Eleazer Stafford is the son of Joshua Stafford Jr.
Stafford Society Branches 3 and 14 have been merged to facilitate study.
Ellis was living in FL in 1819, a farmer. FL was then controlled by Spain. The children are attributed by supposition only.

I do not have a son of Ellis Stafford named Joshua, but Ellis' son Richard named his son Joshua B. Stafford, marriage in Leon Co. Florida to Mary C. Farr 23 Nov 1859, (go to www.usgenweb.org/statelinks.html for Florida, then go to Leon Co. and marriages...which they have posted. All Stafford marriages are there.
Sons of Ellis Stafford could be (not definitive but they appear on his Spanish Land grant, which was switched over to American Grants 1821, (Fam. His. Lib.)
William, James, Thomas, Samuel, John (Mercer), Richard W.
Two daughters:
Lydia (Suzannah) Stafford marriage to Edward Lemuel Howard 23 Feb. 1827, and Sarah Stafford to William Childress 31 Aug. 1830, both Leon Co. Florida...
BLM land records-glo records for Florida, show the sons and Ellis receiving finalized land grants.
Joshua may be a nephew....but Lydia stated on 1880 Census in Vernon Par. La. (where she migrated to) that she was born in S. Car.
There are several Staffords there in the Greenville Dist. and other counties 1790, a John and Thomas Stafford were loyalists, left there and went to Camden Co. Ga. on the island off the coast, to avoid troubles, your Joshua could tie to them as well.
A daughter, on the 1880 census, said Ellis was born in South Carolina - Possibly the son of Richard Stafford of Granville Co., SC.

3 males age 20-30
