Evans had a rich, full life of "98" years. He passed away peacefully on May 13, 2018 at a Home Facility in Mission Hills. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae, of 69 years. He was a proud father of daughter Paula and sons Bruce, Gregory and David. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Diane, Jennifer, Richard, Kelly, Bradley and Brianna. He also was blessed with six great grandchildren: Aurora, Caleb, Elliana, Micah, Adalyn and Ezra.
Evans was born in Houston, Miss. on October 7, 1919. He was the oldest of five brothers, and one sister of parents Leonard and Hattie Stafford. He graduated from Blytheville, Arkansas High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1943 to December 1945 and was Honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He served as a Unit Commander and a Drill Instructor. He married Eula Mae on August 15, 1944 and life blossomed. He became a Woolworth Manager in March 1948. Thirty Six years later he retired in May of 1982. He loved to fish and camp, but his greatest love was his family.
During the last six months, Evans was in need of 24 hour care. He died of natural causes. He is now at rest and united with Eula Mae. Our memories are of a lifetime!
