GAINESBORO — Funeral services for Gerald (Cotton) Mathews, 64, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will be in Young Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 17, and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Mathews passed away on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, in Clay County.
He was born June 7, 1950, in Jackson County.
Mr. Mathews was a truck driver. He was a member of Dudneys Hill Church of Christ. He enjoyed golf, camping, boating, time with his grandchildren and UT football.
His family includes his wife, Wanda Kilmon Mathews of Gainesboro (whom he married Oct. 17, 1968); a son, Tommy (Mike Cianciolo) Mathews of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter, Judy (Reese) Mathews Eagle of Bloomington Springs; three grandchildren, Brooklyn (Dustin) Jenkins, Brittney Eagle and Austin Eagle; two great-grandchildren, Addison Jenkins and Aiden Jenkins; two stepbrothers, Marty Smith of Murfreesboro and Ronnie Smith of Fountain Run, Ky.; and one stepsister, Jowania Smith of Willette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Mathews and Dimple and Ernie Smith, and a stepsister, Pat Smith.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dudneys Hill Care Center by contacting the funeral home.
Bro. Sam Mainord will officiate at the services.
