Frances Lenora French, age 99, beloved mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family early morning on August 29, 2016 at the Hurricane Rehab Center in Hurricane, Utah. She was born in Alvin, Texas on June 13, 1917 to Rossman and Buelah Stafford. She had three sisters and one brother. While attending college in Beaumont, Texas, she met and married Bennett French, who together had three children: Bennett Jr. (Judith) of Hurricane, UT, Dianne Enochs of Cashmere, WA and Victoria Nelson of Bellvue, WA.
She is survived by her brother Richard Stafford of League City, TX and sister Dorothy Ryan. Grandchildren from son Bennett are: Brenda Amundson ( Mike and great grandson Alex Ninow(Tawna and great great granddaughters Auria and Monique Ninow of St. George Utah. LindaBurgos (Jim of St. George Utah. Great granddaughter Raychel Bozech (Kenny of Salt Lake City Utah. Great granddaughter Erica Smith (Shayne of Salt Lake City. David French (Cindy and great grandson Bennie French, and great granddaughter Clarice French of Salt Lake City. Leisa Workman (Richard and great grandsons Sam and Timothy Workman of Salt Lake City. Grandchildren of Dianne are: Tawnya Padilla ( Micheal, great grandson Nick Larez, Great granddaughter Mariah Leraz and great grandson Alex Padilla of Tacoma Washington. Justin Enochs and great grandsons Damian and Elijah Enochs of Friday Harbor Washington. Chad Enochs( Kendall and great grandson Courtland Enochs. Taylor and Keelan Sha of Auburn Washington. Tasha Enochs Walters (Brian and great grandson Braydon Walters of Grand Coulee Washington. Victoria Nelson (Greg and great grandson William Perry Nelson of Bellevue Washington.
Frances and Bennett moved to El Cajon California in 1958. She was widowed in 1988. Throughout her life she always had a garden and knew how to eat right. She also loved lots of plants and flowers. She enjoyed life and kept busy. Her laugh and smiles were special and she was a very generous and giving person, a true southern belle called "the yellow rose of Texas" by her granddaughters. She was a free spirit and now truly "free" in the presence of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. The family is grateful to the staff at Hurricane Health and Rehab Center for their part in caring for her these past few years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Southern Utah Mortuary (190 North 300 West, Cedar City UT). Viewing will be held prior from 11:30 am-12:30 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary. Interment will be in the Enoch City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
