Funeral services for Mr. Billy Ray Rhoten, 79, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, January 22, 2010, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 P.M. – 9 P.M., and Friday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. He was born December 27, 1930, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Carlos William and Martha Mahaney Rhoten. He was married to Stella May Rhoten, who survives. He was a former employee of the State Highway Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Donald and Willis Rhoten; 2 Sisters: Rosie Heroth and Daffo Gilpatrick; and 1 Son: Bennie Clay Hammock. Survivors include his Wife: Stella May Rhoten of Gainesboro, TN; 4 Sons: Donnie Ray Hammock, Jackie Fay Hammock, Jimmy Wayne Hammock, and Michael Eugene Hammock, all of Gainesboro, TN; 3 Daughters and 2 Sons-in-Law: Deborah and Junior Phann, Kathy Phann, and Jennie and Charles Ward Scott, all of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Brother: John Rhoten of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Sister: Julia Doris Rhoten Stafford of Cookeville, TN; 11 Grandchildren; and 10 Great Grandchildren. Bro. Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
