Jessie LaVerne Stafford, age 73, of Mishawka, IN, passed away on July 10, 2020 in her daughters home surrounded by loved ones.
LaVerne was born on August 22, 1946 in Tompkinsville, KY to Robert and Leona Ford. She is one out of fourteen children. On November 3, 1961 in Kokomo, IN LaVerene was married to Jim Stafford. They were married for 56 years. She is survived by her children Candi (Lonnie) Whitfield, Neal Stafford, and James (Sheila) Stafford. As well as seven surviving brothers and sisters, Joe (Sharon) Ford, Irene Balentine, Jimmy Ford, Henry (Debbie) Ford, Betty (Allen) Colley, Debbie (Bobby) Deeds, and David (Mary) Ford, sister in law Sheila Ford, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Leona Ford, her husband Jim Stafford, three sisters, Elise Gay (infant) Jean Ford and Faye Ford, three brothers Tommy Ford, Eddie Ford, and Jackie Ford.
LaVerne had a servant’s heart. It really did not matter how much money you made, where you came from or even if she knew you well. If she saw someone in need, she did everything she could to help. It was always her number one priority to see her family happy and saved. While she would give you the shirt off her back, she was not scared of telling you like it is. She wanted everyone to know she loved them and be ready for God’s coming. LaVerne was baptized on September 2, 1968 at Christ Temple Church. Through all her pain and trials, in her words “I’m Blessed, He’s been so good to me!”
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon on Monday, July 13, 2020 at First Pentecostal Church, Edwardsburg, Mi. Rev Robert Geans pastor of the church will officiate. Friends may visit from 10:00am Monday until time of service at church.
