Herman Stafford, lives next to the Wesley Chapel in Trigg, Virginia told me that J.R. was great with dog's. He could remember J.R. had a German Shepard that he had trained to ride on the running board of his Model T Ford and the dog would lean in toward the door to keep from falling off. Herman said that J.R. was very good with animals. Herman also told me that he went to school with J.R. at the Trigg School before J.R. moved to Pulaski in abt. 1930.
