"I live on a lot of 47 acres about 20 acres cleared - with a small dwelling house on it. The land is in Augusta and is worth about $700. There is a mortgage to the state of $179.50 binde nearly two years back interest. I am indebted to Noah Stafford $547." ..signed by mark of John Stafford 6 Sep 1820, Oneida Co., NY and state his age as 62, enlisted in 1777 and discharged 1780, by occupation a farmer. His wife aged 61 years in feeble health and almost bedridden for five years past .. signed by mark of John Stafford. State of NY, Oneida Co. - 8 Sep 1820 ... appeared ... John Stafford ... that he is by occupation a farmer but is afflicted with a feaver sore on his leg and has the dropsy besides and is unable to work and almost blind besides. that the number and names of his family residing with him - His wife Anna aged 61 years. NY, Oneida Co. -20 May 1823 ... John Stafford ... aged 64 years .. wife Anna aged 63 years ... his grandchild Eunice? aged 8 years feeble and under the care of a physician.
