Obituary - WALLINGFORD - Jean Claire Shedd, 81, of Wallingford, died Monday morning, July 13, 2009, at the Genesis Eldercare Mountain View Center.
She was born on May 15, 1928, in Wallingford, the daughter of Earl C. and Marie (Lenard) Stafford.
Mrs. Shedd graduated from the Wallingford High School in 1945.
She married Donald C. Shedd in Wallingford on November 16, 1947.
Mrs. Shedd was a member of the Wallingford Congregational Church and attended the United Church of West Rutland.
She enjoyed reading and knitting, making over 1,000 hats for the Rutland Regional Medical Center nursery.
Survivors include her husband, Donald C. Shedd of Wallingford; a daughter, Karen Allen and her husband Robert of Ira; a son, Bradford Shedd and his wife Leonora of Fairlee; a granddaughter, Sarah Allen of Ira; two grandsons, Blair Shedd and his wife Sarah of Fairlee and Robert Allen Jr. of Alabama; two great-grandchildren, Devon Shedd and Madlyn Shedd, both of Fairlee; a sister, Phyllis K. Smith of Watervliet, N.Y.; a cousin, Virginia Underwood of Wallingford; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Ruth Stafford and Edith Young.
At Jean's request, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. Private burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery.
