• Notes

  I found William Stafford (abt.1797 - Dec. 23, 1838) on a couple of deeds (which are apparently mortgages) between Joshua Ross (1803-1881) and the various selectmen of Readsboro in the 1820s. William Stafford is listed on the deeds as selectman with Jacob Hix (Hicks), Jonathan and Joel Houghton and James Carpenter. These mortgage deeds are dated: - April 16, 1825 - March 10, 1827 This, of course, almost 30 years before a Ross marries a Stafford. Steven C. Ross
