Census:
1850. Listed as Hannah Parshall, age 24. b. NY with daughter Celestin Parshall age 6 b. OH.
Obituary:
- From the Hillsdale Leader, Friday, March 10, 1899:
Mrs. Hannah Rockwood
Mrs. Hannah Rockwood, wife of Elon G. Rockwood, died at her home, six
miles east of this city, in Adams township, Saturday from la grippe.
She had been an invalid for several years and two weeks ago was (t)aken
with la grippe from which she did not recover. The deceased was born
in Palmyra, Wayne Co., N.Y., Dec. 28, 1822 and later moved to Ohio,
where she was united in marriage to James I. Partial in 1842. Two
children were born to them, Owen Partial, of Camden, and Mrs. Celestia
Peck, now deceased, who lived in Adams. Several years later she was
married to Mr. Rockwood and since then has made Adams her home except a few years, when they resided in this city. Four children, two sons,
Edwin, of Adams, and Charles, of Lansing, and two daughters, Mrs. Lura
Wheaton, of Adams, and Mrs. Effie McBain, of North Adams, were born to
them and, with the husband, all survive her except one, Mrs. Wheaton,
and all were present at the funeral. The funeral was held at the Christian church in Adams at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning and the burial took place in the Kirby cemetery. Rev. Ward, of this city officiated.
My notes: 1842 Marriage Certificate shows Hannah's first husband as James J. Parshall, not James I. Partial. Her two children were: Orin O. Parshall, not Owen Partial; and Celestia L. Parshall Peterson Peck.
