Halbert A. Stafford, Jr age 81 of Chardon died peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 12, 2013 at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg, PA.
Born Dec. 15, 1931 to Halbert and Georgette(nee: Rodecker) Stafford, Sr., he had been a longtime area resident.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 51 years, Eileen J. (nee: Brindo) Stafford on April 11, 2013.
He is survived by three siblings Shirley Boehmer of Silverton, OR, Sharon Goforth of Thompson and Bruce (Ann) Stafford of East Greenbush, NY; five children: Raina (Patrick) Podmore of Chardon, Ohio; Peggy (Brad) Hunt, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; son Lee (Olivia) Stafford of Thompson, Ohio; Judy (Gale) Bartholomew of Middlefield, OH and JoAnn (Larry) Greenlee of Chardon; grandchildren Allison (Wade) Beck of Trevorton, Pennsylvania, Scott Hunt of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Kristen Masink of Chardon; and great-grandchildren Olivia and Theodore "Bear" Masink of Chardon and Kylie Beck of Trevorton, PA.
Hal was a graduate of Chardon High School Class of 1950 and received his Associates Degree from Lakeland Community College.
He was an active life-long member of the Chardon Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of the Mayflower Society.
Hal loved to sing and was a former member of the Northcoast Ohio Chapter of the Barber Shop Quartet Johnnycake Ridge Singers.
He was also an avid sports fan and loved golf. FUNERAL SVC: 5:45pm on Tuesday Dec. 17, 2013 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500' south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH.
VISITATION: Tuesday from 4-5:45pm at the funeral home. GRAVESIDESVC: 11:30am Wednesday Dec. 18, 2013 at Larned Cemetery on Mentor Road near Hermitage Road in Chardon Twp.
